After several years of inactivity, an underutilized Dining Room in a recently renovated home was destined to become an open office for the homeowner, who often found themselves working remotely from the house more frequently. Their love of art and sculpture became a major driving force on the pieces of furniture selected, all while needing the flexibility of hosting team meetings at a moment’s notice. A custom desk was produced, doing away with the necessity of closed storage, and focusing on the form. A strong two tone color scheme directed the eye towards the more formal millwork package, while camouflaging high window placements present in the room. A mixture of plush velvets and sculpted leather elevate the furnishings to lounge status, all while keeping a semblance of formality that can be viewed from the adjacent foyer and living room. A flatweave rug reminiscent of the homeowner’s artwork allows for ease of use for the desk chair, and allows for additional layers of comfort by key seating areas.
